BMW has created the perfect upgrade for the M2 for track days, and it’s a game changer.
The new BMW M2 M Performance Track Kit changes the style of the car. It feels more like a GT racer than just a fast car.
If you go to a track event, you’ll see M2s everywhere. BMW knows this, and this package is for owners who are already changing their cars for the track.
The biggest part is the huge swan-neck rear wing, which comes from the M4 GT4 and GT3 race cars.
It even has a brake light. In Race Mode, the wing moves back 50mm for more downforce, while Street Mode keeps the car legal for German roads.
The angle can be changed by hand, as can the new front splitter, wheel arch pieces, all tested in the wind tunnel and approved by BMW driver Jörg Weidinger.
The chassis gets even better parts. BMW says this is the first street-legal racing shocks it has sold, with four-way adjustable compression and rebound, adjustable top mounts, and a 20mm ride-height range. You’ll probably be making changes in the paddock between races.
Right now, the kit is only available in Germany starting in July, for €23,500 before installation and without track tires.
If it comes to the UK, it will probably cost £25,000 or more installed — which is a lot for a used M2, but normal for track builds.
Also, M2 CS buyers get a titanium and carbon M Performance exhaust. It doesn’t add any power beyond the standard 530hp, but it weighs 8kg less and costs €8,343.50 before installation.
