Our Story: From Modified Rides to The Cars Daily
The Cars Daily began in 2020, when founder and editor Shawn Miller launched Modified Rides, an independent website dedicated to modified cars, performance upgrades and automotive culture.
What started as a personal passion project gradually developed into a broader automotive publication.
As the website grew, so did its coverage. Alongside modified vehicles and performance engineering, we began publishing automotive news, new car launches, buying guides, maintenance advice, reviews and industry developments.
On 29 January 2026, Modified Rides officially became The Cars Daily.
The new name reflected our wider editorial direction and ambition to build an independent motoring publication for a broader audience.
Although the name changed, our original enthusiasm for cars remained at the heart of everything we do.
Today, The Cars Daily continues to develop its coverage, combining automotive news with practical knowledge, independent research and stories from across the motoring world.
Who’s Behind The Cars Daily?
Shawn Miller — Founder & Editor
The Cars Daily was founded and is independently managed by Shawn Miller, an automotive enthusiast with a practical background in vehicle maintenance.
Shawn holds an IMI Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance, giving him a technical understanding of vehicle servicing, mechanical systems and everyday car ownership.
His interests include performance cars, vehicle modifications, automotive engineering and emerging vehicle technology.
Having started Modified Rides in 2020, Shawn continues to oversee the editorial direction and development of The Cars Daily.
His aim is to build a respected independent automotive publication that provides useful, accessible information while maintaining a genuine connection with car enthusiasts.
