First Ferrari Luce Production Car Heads to Monterey Auction

Ferrari’s first-ever production example of the all-electric Luce is set to become one of the standout attractions at Monterey Car Week, with the unique EV heading to RM Sotheby’s auction before customer deliveries even begin.

The car, identified as Chassis No. 0, represents the very first production-ready Ferrari Luce and is expected to achieve more than £800,000 when it goes under the hammer in California.

While the standard Luce carries a price tag of just under £500,000, this example commands a significant premium thanks to its one-off specification and historical importance.

Built through Ferrari’s exclusive Tailor Made programme, it wears a bespoke Madreperla Semi-Gloss white finish that shifts between green and violet depending on the light, creating a distinctive pearlescent effect.

The unique exterior is complemented by matching white alloy wheels, white brake calipers and a bespoke white leather cabin, giving the flagship EV an unmistakably minimalist appearance.

Adding to its collectability, the US-specification Luce features a dedicated plaque confirming its status as Ferrari’s first production example.

Rather than entering private ownership immediately, however, the proceeds from the auction will support The Ferrari Foundation, the Italian marque’s registered charity, which funds inclusive education initiatives.

The sale gives collectors a rare opportunity to own a landmark model while contributing to a charitable cause closely linked to the manufacturer.

Despite being auctioned during Monterey Car Week, the successful bidder won’t be driving away immediately.

Ferrari has confirmed the car will return to Maranello after the sale before final delivery takes place during the first quarter of 2027, aligning with the wider rollout of the Luce.

That delayed handover only reinforces the exclusivity surrounding the brand’s first electric production model, ensuring Chassis No. 0 remains one of the most significant modern Ferraris to reach auction before customers have even received the standard car.

As Ferrari enters the electric era, this first production Luce marks a pivotal moment in the company’s history.

Whether viewed as a collector’s item, an investment or a milestone in automotive engineering, its appearance at Monterey is certain to attract considerable attention from enthusiasts and collectors alike.
