Chery has revealed the new Tiggo X7, a rugged-looking SUV designed to combine everyday family practicality with off-road capability. Arriving alongside an updated Tiggo 7, the X7 introduces a new direction for the Chinese manufacturer’s expanding SUV range.
The Tiggo X7 is the first vehicle in Chery’s newly announced Tiggo X series, with a noticeably more adventurous design than the brand’s conventional family SUVs. Its upright proportions, squared-off bodywork and substantial wheelarch cladding give it an appearance closer to traditional off-road vehicles.
At the front, a distinctive grille dominates the design, while roof rails, darkened windows and chunky tyres reinforce its outdoors-focused character. The styling draws comparisons with established off-road SUVs such as the Toyota Land Cruiser, although Chery has yet to reveal whether the X7 will offer comparable mechanical capability.

Chery describes the newcomer as a vehicle developed for family comfort and global exploration, suggesting it intends to appeal to buyers who want a practical SUV capable of handling more than ordinary road journeys.
However, several important questions remain unanswered.
The manufacturer has not disclosed engine options, transmission details, drivetrain specifications or performance figures. Crucially, there is no confirmation of four-wheel drive, low-range gearing or other dedicated off-road equipment.
Those details will determine whether the Tiggo X7 can genuinely compete with established off-road machinery or whether its appeal will primarily lie in its rugged styling and everyday versatility.
For British buyers, pricing could be particularly interesting. The existing Chery Tiggo 7 starts at £24,995 in the UK, considerably below the approximately £81,000 starting price quoted for the Toyota Land Cruiser.
That difference highlights the potential appeal of a more affordable, adventure-inspired SUV, although there is currently no indication that the Tiggo X7 will occupy a similar price bracket.

Chery has also not confirmed whether the new model will be sold in Britain or provided a launch timetable.
For now, the Tiggo X7 offers an early glimpse of the manufacturer’s ambitions beyond conventional family SUVs. Its design makes a strong first impression, but its mechanical specifications and eventual pricing will be far more important in establishing its place in the market.
