California-based Porsche specialist Gunther Werks has unveiled the Brundle Edition Turbo, an exclusive interpretation of its extensively modified Porsche 993 Turbo celebrating the racing career of former Formula 1 driver and commentator Martin Brundle.
Just five examples will be produced, combining the company’s formidable air-cooled performance engineering with bespoke styling inspired by Brundle’s motorsport history.

The exterior is particularly personal. Designed by Martin’s daughter, automotive designer Charlie Brundle, the car features a hand-painted, two-tone pearl finish influenced by her father’s distinctive racing helmet. Exclusive forged magnesium wheels complete the appearance.
Inside, the Brundle family connection continues through carefully selected details. The seat bolsters reference colours from Martin’s Formula 1 career, while bespoke door sills identify the limited-edition model.

One particularly memorable touch is a quotation stitched into the dashboard: “The most important bit of the car is the nut holding the steering wheel.”
Beneath the distinctive bodywork sits Gunther Werks’ heavily re-engineered Porsche 993 Turbo, powered by an air-cooled 4.0-litre flat-six producing up to 860hp and 610lb ft of torque.
Power reaches the rear wheels through a six-speed Getrag manual gearbox, maintaining the mechanical involvement associated with classic Porsche performance cars despite the substantial increase in output.
Brundle, whose racing achievements include a decade in Formula 1 and a World Sportscar Championship title with Jaguar, praised the combination of extreme performance and everyday usability offered by Gunther Werks.

The collaboration also reflects the company’s growing international ambitions, with its modified Porsche creations attracting attention beyond its California base.
Pricing for the Brundle Edition has not been announced. However, with the standard Gunther Werks Turbo reportedly costing around £1.25 million, the five-car special edition is unlikely to come cheaply.
For collectors seeking an exceptionally rare air-cooled Porsche with a direct connection to British motorsport, the Brundle Edition offers something considerably more personal than another high-powered 911 conversion.
