BMW’s upcoming electric i3 M60 could deliver an impressive 604bhp, following confirmation of the powertrain specifications for the new iX3 M60.
The high-performance saloon has already been confirmed for BMW’s expanding Neue Klasse range, although its final performance figures have yet to be officially announced.
The newly revealed BMW iX3 M60 produces 604bhp and 875Nm (645lb ft) of torque from a dual-motor electric powertrain, with one motor driving each axle.
Power is supplied by a 108.7kWh battery, allowing the electric SUV to accelerate from 0–62mph in just 3.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 149mph. Should the i3 M60 adopt the same setup, it could become one of BMW’s most powerful electric saloons.

Despite its considerable performance, the iX3 M60 offers a claimed WLTP driving range of up to 468 miles. BMW’s Neue Klasse architecture also introduces an 800-volt electrical system capable of supporting DC rapid charging at up to 400kW.
According to the manufacturer, this allows approximately 211 miles of additional range to be recovered in just ten minutes under suitable charging conditions.
The technology extends beyond outright acceleration. BMW’s new Heart of Joy control system coordinates key driving functions to improve responsiveness, stability and handling.
M Performance versions also benefit from a Dynamic Performance Control Driving Stack, designed to provide more precise control over the vehicle’s behaviour when cornering. The iX3 M60 additionally features adaptive suspension, upgraded brakes and sports steering, reflecting its position within BMW’s performance-focused electric line-up.
Visually, the M60 treatment introduces several distinctive features, including larger alloy wheels, sporting exterior details and yellow-tinted headlights inspired by BMW’s motorsport heritage. Inside, the performance theme continues with sports seats, distinctive upholstery, contrasting stitching and an upgraded audio system.

BMW’s windscreen-width Panoramic Vision display also forms part of the Neue Klasse interior experience, bringing driving information into the driver’s natural field of view.
The prospect of a 604bhp BMW i3 M60 is particularly interesting given the saloon’s more traditional body style. While the iX3 M60 demonstrates what BMW’s latest electric technology can achieve in an SUV, a lower-slung four-door model could offer a different driving experience. However, BMW has not yet confirmed whether the i3 M60 will match the SUV’s output, acceleration or battery specifications.
With the electric i3 set to expand BMW’s Neue Klasse family, the M60 could provide a compelling alternative for drivers seeking serious performance without moving into an SUV.
For now, the iX3 M60 offers the clearest indication of what BMW’s next generation of electric M Performance models may deliver.
