If you think the Mercedes-Benz 250 was all taxis and tidy saloons, think again.
This rare long-wheelbase limousine is now up for auction on Bring a Trailer, offering a glimpse into a more discreet side of eighties executive travel.
Delivered new in Germany, this 1985 example is one of 5,180 “lange” versions built between 1977 and 1985.
The W123 platform was stretched by 24.8 inches over the standard saloon, creating genuine eight-seat capacity across three rows.

Finished in Deep Blue (900U) with classic Euro bumpers and headlamps, it retains period details including rear vent windows and polished 15-inch steel wheels wrapped in Michelin XVS tyres.
Under the bonnet sits the carburetted 2.5-litre M123 straight-six, producing 140hp when new.

Unusually for a limousine of this era, it pairs with a four-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels. Self-levelling rear suspension came as standard on long-wheelbase cars, complemented here by power steering and anti-lock disc brakes all round.
Inside, Beige fabric upholstery is offset by Zebrano wood trim, with central locking, a heated rear screen and a Blaupunkt Frankfurt stereo adding period charm.

The odometer reads 141,000 kilometres – roughly 88,000 miles – with minimal use since 2016.
Offered in Göttingen, Germany, with factory literature and its original data card, this extended W123 represents a rare opportunity to own a seldom-seen chapter of Mercedes’ enduring executive legacy.
