HWA has offered the first glimpse of its next Mercedes-Benz-inspired project, releasing a shadowy teaser that appears to point towards the legendary W124.
Following the company’s ambitious reimagining of the 190E Evolution, attention could now be turning to one of Mercedes’ most celebrated V8 performance saloons.

The teaser reveals little beyond a familiar silhouette, but the shape has already raised an intriguing question: is HWA preparing a modern interpretation of the AMG Hammer, the Mercedes-Benz 500E, or something influenced by both?
Either would be a compelling direction for the German engineering specialist.
The original AMG Hammer helped establish the reputation of brutally powerful Mercedes saloons during the 1980s, combining understated executive-car styling with formidable V8 performance.
The 500E followed in the early 1990s, famously developed with Porsche’s involvement and powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8.
HWA has already demonstrated its willingness to revisit Mercedes motorsport history through the HWA EVO, a modern interpretation of the 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II.
The project combines classic touring-car-inspired styling with contemporary engineering, and the company has also developed a track-focused EVO.R variant.
A W124-based successor could provide an opportunity to explore a different chapter of Mercedes performance history. Where the original 190E Evolution models became famous for their four-cylinder engines and touring-car success, the Hammer and 500E built their reputations around V8 power and effortless high-speed performance.

The prospect of a modern AMG V8 is particularly appealing, although HWA has not confirmed an engine, output or technical specification for the new project.
The Mercedes-AMG M177 twin-turbocharged V8 would be one possible candidate, but its involvement remains entirely speculative.
For now, HWA is keeping the details deliberately limited. The company describes the project as revisiting another chapter of its engineering heritage while exploring what modern technology could bring to a familiar concept.
There is no confirmed unveiling date, production figure or price. Nevertheless, after the attention generated by the EVO, the possibility of a modernised W124 performance saloon gives Mercedes enthusiasts another HWA development worth watching.
