Lamborghini Gallardo Reborn as Manual V10 Hommage 26

A manual gearbox, a naturally aspirated V10 and a €900,000 bill before you’ve supplied the car.

The Cavën Atelier Hommage 26 takes the Lamborghini Gallardo in a rather expensive direction, with just 25 examples planned.

Fabrizio Giugiaro has returned to the design he helped develop at Italdesign in 1998, working through his GFG Style studio.

The result revisits that early proposal with new carbon-fibre bodywork and technology that wasn’t practical when the original took shape.

This is an independent conversion of an existing Gallardo, rather than a new Lamborghini model. And while the familiar proportions survive, much of the exterior has changed.

The central roof section, windscreen, side windows, mirrors and mirror bases are retained. Around them sits redesigned bodywork with concealed “pop-down” headlights, active aerodynamic flaps at the rear and a new engine cover.

There’s also an opening rear window intended to let more of the V10’s sound reach the cabin.

Redesigned seats and fresh interior graphics form part of the changes inside.

The connection to Giugiaro’s earlier work gives the project its character. Rather than simply fitting modern lights and larger wheels, he has revisited ideas from his original proposal, particularly around the nose.

Whether you prefer it to the production Gallardo will be another matter.

Italian engineering specialist Italtecnica has reworked the early Gallardo’s 5.0-litre V10. Announced outputs are 540 metric horsepower for the GT and 560 for the Performance version, with the engine capable of reaching a claimed 8,500rpm.

Both versions use a manual gearbox. The package also includes upgraded brakes, 20-inch wheels and suspension with Comfort and Sport settings.

Keeping the naturally aspirated engine means the appeal remains its response and high-revving character, rather than a headline turbocharged power figure.

Those changes haven’t yet been backed by published independent performance testing.

The reported starting price is €900,000, excluding taxes and the donor Gallardo.

Final specifications may change during prototype development, so buyers are commissioning a project whose finished details are still being settled.

At that money, supplying your own Lamborghini is quite an opening requirement.
