Mazda has revived the 6, but with a twist. The familiar saloon shape is gone, replaced by a fully electric hatchback, now called the Mazda 6e.
Underneath, it’s essentially a rebodied Changan Deepal SL03, though Mazda has tuned the steering and suspension to suit UK roads.
UK buyers won’t get the battery options seen elsewhere in Europe. Instead, there’s a single 78kWh LFP pack, delivering a claimed 348-mile range. Rear-wheel drive comes from a single 254bhp motor, propelling the 6e from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds.

Charging is rated at 195kW, letting drivers go from 10 to 80 per cent in around 24 minutes.
Prices start at £38,995, positioning it slightly above the entry-level Tesla Model 3 Standard, yet undercutting rivals such as the BYD Seal, Mercedes CLA Electric, and Kia EV4 Fastback.
Inside, Mazda keeps things simple. The entry-level Takumi trim comes with black or stone faux leather, while the £1,000 Takumi Plus upgrade adds tan Nappa leather and artificial suede.

Only two trim levels are on offer, keeping the line-up straightforward for buyers.
For UK drivers looking for an EV with distinctive styling and a practical hatchback layout, the 6e presents a compelling choice.
Deliveries are expected to start this summer, giving Mazda enthusiasts a chance to experience its combination of European styling tweaks, electric range, and competitive pricing.
