A remarkably original 1997 Nissan Skyline GTS25 is attracting attention after being listed with no reserve on Bring a Trailer.
Showing just 33,000 kilometres (around 21,000 miles), the rare ER33-generation saloon combines low mileage, a sought-after five-speed manual gearbox and Nissan’s smooth naturally aspirated RB25 engine, making it an appealing proposition for Skyline enthusiasts and JDM collectors alike.
Imported from Japan to the United States in April 2026, the Sonic Silver example is now up for auction on Bring a Trailer, giving bidders the chance to secure an increasingly hard-to-find R33 Skyline saloon without a reserve price.
Power comes from Nissan’s naturally aspirated 2.5-litre RB25DE inline-six, producing a factory-rated 190bhp and 170lb-ft of torque. Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, while recent maintenance includes a replacement clutch, fresh transmission fluid, an engine oil service and a new fuel tank fitted ahead of the sale.
The Skyline had previously appeared on Bring a Trailer in July 2026 before being withdrawn to complete the mechanical work, and it has now returned to the auction block.
The exterior remains finished in factory Sonic Silver (KR4) and features period-correct styling including fog lights, power-folding mirrors, a rear spoiler, rear window wiper, power antenna and twin exhaust outlets.
Sitting lower than standard thanks to an aftermarket suspension setup, the Skyline rides on 17-inch alloy wheels styled after Work Emotion designs.
The wheels wear a mix of Bridgestone and Goodyear tyres, although the front tyres show sidewall cracking and the alloys display some kerb marks. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with anti-lock braking as standard.
Inside, the cabin retains much of its original character while benefiting from desirable upgrades. Recaro front sports seats upholstered in black cloth replace the standard chairs, complemented by a NISMO gear knob, air conditioning, electric windows and the factory cassette stereo.
A Nissan Puretron cabin air filtration system remains mounted on the rear parcel shelf, while the dashboard houses a 180km/h speedometer, 9,000rpm tachometer and analogue gauges for oil pressure, fuel level and coolant temperature.
The digital odometer displays just 33,000 kilometres, reinforcing the car’s exceptionally low mileage.
With clean Wisconsin title paperwork, recent mechanical servicing and no reserve attached to the listing, this well-preserved R33 Skyline GTS25 presents an increasingly rare opportunity for collectors.
As values of 1990s Japanese performance cars continue to strengthen, original, low-mileage examples such as this are becoming significantly harder to source.
