The Aston Martin DB5 has inspired everything from films to modern supercars, and now it has shaped Breitling’s latest collection. The Swiss watchmaker has unveiled three limited-edition Top Time chronographs created as a tribute to one of Britain’s most iconic grand tourers.
Following the announcement of a formal partnership between Aston Martin and Breitling earlier this year, the new Breitling Top Time B01 Chronograph 41 Tribute to Aston Martin DB5 arrives as the first major product born from that collaboration.
Drawing influence from the legendary 1964 DB5 rather than Aston Martin’s latest performance models, the collection blends classic British motoring design with Swiss watchmaking. Each version features dial details inspired by the DB5, including wood-effect accents reminiscent of the original steering wheel, hand-coloured leather straps designed to echo the car’s upholstery, and an Aston Martin-engraved rotor visible through the case back.

Power comes from Breitling’s in-house Manufacture Calibre 1, a COSC-certified chronograph movement offering a 70-hour power reserve, making it as practical for everyday wear as it is desirable for collectors.
Three versions will be produced, each with its own level of exclusivity. The stainless steel model with a silver dial, inspired by the DB5 driven by Sean Connery in Thunderball, will be limited to 1,022 examples. A steel and platinum variant will see production capped at 315 units, while the flagship 18-carat red gold edition with a natural onyx dial will be restricted to just 250 individually numbered watches.

Breitling says this marks the first time it has incorporated natural onyx into one of its timepieces. Although official UK pricing has yet to be confirmed, the limited production numbers and Aston Martin branding suggest a noticeable premium over the standard Top Time range, which starts at around £5,000.
By comparison, securing an original Aston Martin DB5 today typically requires a budget of around £600,000.
Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichmann described the collaboration as a meeting of two brands united by craftsmanship, timeless design and innovation.
He said every element had been carefully considered to reflect the character and authenticity of both companies, resulting in a watch that feels modern while remaining true to the heritage that made the DB5 an enduring automotive icon.
