Mercedes V-Class Goes Electric with the All-New VLE

The Mercedes V-Class, a favourite for VIP transport and city shuttling, is taking the leap into fully electric territory with the VLE.

Far from a simple EQV facelift, this van debuts on Mercedes’ new Van Architecture, promising a fresh approach to space, comfort, and versatility.

At its heart is an 800-volt electric system paired with a 115 kWh battery, delivering a claimed range of 435 miles.

Realistically, expect around 380 miles in UK conditions, with charging rates up to 300 kW.

Initial offerings include the 276 hp 300 spec, while a 415 hp dual-motor 4Matic 400 and models with an 80 kWh battery will arrive later.

For most UK buyers, though, the interior is where the VLE truly impresses.

Inside, the VLE is packed with Mercedes’ latest tech. The MBUX Superscreen dominates the dashboard, while the Sky View roof brightens the cabin.

Rear passengers benefit from the MBUX Rear Space Experience, including a panoramic 31‑inch 8K display above the front seats with video conferencing capability.

Seating is flexible for up to eight, with some positions app-controllable and others manually removable.

The Grand Comfort Seat adds wireless charging, massage, calf support, and an extra pillow.

Airmatic air suspension ensures a serene ride, and rear-wheel steering tightens the turning circle to just 10.9 metres – perfect for navigating London streets.

Mercedes’ Chairman Ola Kallenius calls the VLE “a milestone in our 140-year automotive history,” highlighting its adaptability for both private and professional use.

UK specifications and pricing are expected later in 2026, likely starting close to the £80k range of the outgoing V-Class.

Beyond luxury passenger models, a Marco Polo-style version and standard van variants are anticipated, offering the same tech-forward approach.
